My love for crystals began during my childhood, sparked by my uncle’s collection of Australian gemstones found across Western Australia and Queensland. Hearing stories about the abundance of amethyst at Wyloo Station led me to believe that every river or creek bed hid a trove of treasures. This led to countless hours spent exploring creeks on my grandparents' farm as a child, where I would eagerly return with hefty granite boulders that had any hint of a quartz crystal embedded within. While today, most of these discoveries now form part of our garden's retaining wall, my initial passion for gemstones has evolved beyond lugging home chunks of granite and spurred me to delve deeper into the world of gemology, leading me to learn the art of cutting gemstones.
My gemstone designs are guided by the natural shape of the rough gemstone. Once the rough has been preformed to remove any major inclusions a design is made, often bespoke for each individual stone. This is one of my favourite parts of the process, drawing on my background in both engineering and fine art to produce a visually stunning result. This process is methodical and unrushed, resulting in a unique reflection of nature. Made to be worn as tiny pieces of art, encapsulating the essence of its beholder for generations to come.
